Sean is a fifth year who will be receiving her BFA in Metals. Other than metalworking, Sean takes interst in reading, gaming, cats and drawing and painting. Originally a Creative Writing major, Sean was unsure what exactly she wanted to studying, so she switched her focus of study to Drawing and Painting, and whilst she took an introductory metals class, she fell in love and knew this is what she wanted to major in.
In her art work, she made interesting pieces that were made out of metal. The shapes of her pieces were all different. Most of them were smooth that won’t cut you when you touch it. The colors of the art she created was just simply and plain. She didn’t change the color of the metal. The size of her pieces varied. Most of here pieces were something that you could wear around your neck, wrist or even your fingers. All of these pieces made me realize how hard it is to create art out of metal. They looked very smooth and thin. The drawing of the white flowers inside were not as smooth, a bit shaky, but nicely incorporated.
These art pieces are just about anything that deals with Cabanig’s daily life. Nothing specific was on her mind while creating this pieces. However, she does like to incorporate a bit of emotion or humor into her pieces to really show others about who she is as a person.Perhaps its the use of silver and metal, but I feel like the medium used help emphasize on the curves and shaping of the metal. Sean explores ideas captured from her environment, her humor, art history, and random thoughts. I love her art besides the penis she made, that was my least favorite one.
When I got to the art gallery I saw that she was the only artist there at the time so I decided to go and interview her. At first I really didn’t know what to expect because I like to hear what the artist has to say before going inside the gallery and look at there work. She was very interesting to listen to because she told us that she likes to show off her work with the experience she learns. I enjoyed looking at Sean’s work. This is my second time looking seeing metal art and I have been impressed with how cool it is.
